Music & Worship Ministries
Romans 15:5-6
May the God who gives endurance
and encouragement give you a
spirit of unity among yourselves
as you follow Christ Jesus,
so that with one heart and mouth
you may glorify the God and Father
of our Lord Jesus Christ.
First Baptist Church of Los Altos is privileged to welcome 2 new members of the Worship Ministries Team, Reggie Coates and David Stein. God has blessed us greatly and we look forward to their ministry with us.
Here at First Baptist Church of Los Altos, a dynamic Worship and Music Ministry provides numerous opportunities to serve our Lord! Choir, Orchestra, small vocal and instrumental ensembles, Children's Music and Technical Ministries combine to form an active ministry dedicated to proclaiming God's Word and exalting the name of Christ with excellence in this community and throughout the world.
We are always delighted to welcome individuals of all ages to the teamwork, growth and fellowship of the Worship and Music Ministry. You are invited to participate with us in the greatest privilege of all - worshipping our great and glorious God!

Choir
Membership in Choir is open to anyone Junior High age or above who desires to use their voice in praise and worship of God. This group rehearses Wednesday evenings at 7:00 PM in the Sanctuary and leads in weekly worship services. In addition, they perform major concerts and musicals throughout the year. The variety of musical style is broad, encompassing classical, gospel, spiritual and contemporary. Choral tone, musicianship training and worship leadership is included as part of the Choir's weekly training. We are always looking for new people as we seek to expand the ministry impact of our Choir. Previous choral experience and sight reading ability, although not required, are very helpful.
Orchestra
Instrumental praise is a very important part of the worship life at First Baptist Church, adding vibrancy to the worship services and special productions. The FBCLA Orchestra rehearses Wednesday evenings at 7:00 PM in the Sanctuary and plays for most Sunday morning worship services and an occasional Sunday evening worship service. In addition, they perform as part of the major concerts and musicals presented throughout the year. Orchestra is open to anyone of high school age or above with an Intermediate level of proficiency on their instrument. We are looking for instrumentalists of all types including, string, woodwind, brass, percussion, rhythm (electric guitar, bass, drums), piano and synthesizer.
Small Ensembles
Several vocal and instrumental ensembles, drawn from Choir and Orchestra, are utilized throughout the year as praise teams, special music in worship services and for special programs and concerts.
Technical Ministries
Utilizing well equipped audio, video, recording and lighting facilities, the Technical Ministries team provides the vital "behind-the-scenes" support for regular worship services and church-wide productions. From live in-house operation of equipment to video and audio taping of services and productions to recording of services for national radio broadcast to outreach events beyond the walls of the Church, this team has a critical role in making sure that the good news of Jesus Christ is always clearly seen and heard. Training opportunities are available in live audio, multimedia, recording, video and lighting.
For more information on Technical Ministries, please contact Jason Garvey (jason@fbcla.org).
Children's Choir
Worship and the knowledge of music are vital parts of a child's spiritual growth. A fully graded Children's Choir program (K-8) meets Sundays at 6:00 PM throughout the school year in Burkhart Hall with an excellent staff of qualified leaders committed to teaching children spiritual concepts while experiencing and learning music. In addition to singing for Sunday worship services, the various children's choirs team up each year to present two musicals - one at Christmas and one in the Spring.
- Children's Choirs run September through May with rehearsals at 6:00 PM
