Serving the Valley’s Poor and Hurting for Over 40 Years

CityTeam Ministries is a non-profit Christian organization which operates a wide variety of helping ministry programs directed toward the urban poor.  Begun as San Jose Rescue Mission in 1957, CityTeam has ministries in nine U. S. cities.  Locally, CityTeam operates the following programs:

  • The Rescue Mission provides shelter for 65 homeless per night and serves over 200,000 meals annually.
  • The Recovery Center houses an 18-month drug and alcohol program for 65 men.
  • The House of Grace is a residential treatment program for addicted and abused women and their minor children.
  • Heritage Home is a crisis pregnancy home where over 1,000 babies have been born over the years.
  • Family Services continues to meet the material, educational and spiritual needs of poor families.
  • Youth Outreach & Camp MayMac provides after-school mentoring, Bible clubs, athletic activities and summer camp to thousands of inner city kids.

CityTeam’s programs all have the common focus of bringing people into relationship with Jesus Christ.  The ministry is dependent upon the participation of local church volunteers.

24 Sunday  ~  Missionaries of the Week: David and Connie Deal, Arizona (Athletes in Action). Pray for the 18 full-time staff and 8 short-term missionaries in the East Asia area that David oversees.  Athletes have an amazing platform from which they can share their faith.  Athletes in Action’s burden is that the athletes in China be won to Christ, built up in the faith and sent out to share the Gospel throughout their country and the world.

25 Monday  ~ The Jesus Film Project (CCC). Pray for Iris Ministries, a Campus Crusade partner, who has been showing The Jesus Film in Mozambique in southeast Africa. The response has been powerful, with hundreds of churches being planted.

26 Tuesday  ~  Global Recordings Network now has recordings of Gospel messages and basic Christian teaching available in 5,693 languages and dialects. They have also placed 4,515 of these languages on their web site for free listening and downloading on MP3’s. The web site is http://globalrecordings.net/.

27 Wednesday  ~ Eric and Beth Yodis, Ukraine (WorldVenture). Eric and Beth are ministering in Ukraine in the training of church planters. If you would like to see a new picture of them and their daughter, Charity, please look on the bulletin board in the Missions Center.

28 Thursday  ~  John and Linda Crone, Texas (Josh McDowell Ministries). By the end of 2007, Josh McDowell’s new book, "The Witness", had been printed in Arabic, Kurdish, Armenian, Dutch and Urdu and has written agreements to print in 21 other languages. Please pray for Josh and team members who travel in some countries that are antagonistic to Christian witness.

29 Friday  ~ Our Ministry Team in the U.S. Pacific Northwest. Praise God for the International students with whom this team makes contact.  Many students are from the Middle East and are asking probing questions about Christianity.

1 Saturday  ~ Rich and Sue Lackey (AWM). Rich asks us to stand in prayer as more and more contacts and converts are coming from the Muslim world. Pray for more trained leaders to disciple these converts. Also, pray for progress in the development of greater web site helps for those who disciple Muslims.
