Missionaries of the Week:

John & Eriko Houlette

houlette

John spent his teen years in Japan and Guam as his dad served in the military.  He accepted the Lord as Savior in college at the age of 20.  Eriko grew up in northern Japan and became a Christian in high school.  John and Eriko met as John was serving on a short-term mission assignment in Japan.   In 1983, CBI appointed the Houlettes as career missionaries in Japan.  They live and work in the greater Tokyo area where they planted a church several years ago.  The church has now called a Japanese pastor and John’s involvement is in an advisory role.  Currently, he serves in another church plant, Denen Grace Chapel. John is Field Chairman for Japan and has many responsibilities with WorldVenture missionaries as well as the Japanese church associations.

John and Eriko have four children: Yutaka, who has graduated from college with a degree in art; Jasmine, who is finishing her senior year at Gordon College; Christine, who is finishing her sophomore year at Gordon as a Music Education major; and Jeweliann, who is 16 years old and in a Christian academy in Japan.  Jeweliann is active in music performance, playing the violin as her mom plays the cello.

30  Sunday ~ Missionaries of the Week: John and Eriko Houlette, Japan (WorldVenture). Last fall, we asked you to pray for the support needs of John and Eriko.  Praise God that they are now fully supported.  Many enjoyed a good visit with John last month.

31  Monday ~ Central Asia. Pray for Christians suffering persecution and sometimes torture by their governments and families, that they will have the courage to live out their faith whatever the cost.

1 Tuesday  ~  Bob and Suzanne Robertson, Jordan (WV). Continue to pray for Bob and Suzanne, that they receive their residence permit for Jordan.  They would love to remain in Jordan, but the visa and residence permits are being questioned in 10/40 Window countries.  Pray for their understanding of God’s purpose for their future.
Birthday - Jamie Gibbs, Colorado

2 Wednesday  ~  Jack Smith, Uganda (WV).  Pray for a new mentoring program that is beginning at the Mulago Hospital, in which local doctors will become mentors of medical students.  About 140 doctors as well as Jack will be involved in the program.

3 Thursday  ~  BJ and Beth Bello. Please pray for BJ and Beth, who pastor two Filipino churches: Hillview Baptist Church of Oakland and a very young church plant in Hayward called Agape Christian Fellowship.  The women of Missionary Prayer Circle enjoyed meeting this couple last month.
Birthday -  Leilani Gibbs, Pennsylvania

4 Friday  ~  Ben and Tillie Yazzie, New Mexico (Missions Door).  Praise that Ben had the opportunity to teach a 2-credit-hour course on sermon development  with 25 Navajo churches in Window Rock, Arizona.  The pastoral leadership appreciates the clearer understanding concerning the development for their future ministries.

5 Saturday  ~  Ministry Team in the Northwest U. S. Praise God that in February the team had a wonderful Thanksgiving meal with all the trimmings for one of their Saudi friends.  They had 25 people crammed into their living room and dining room.  Please pray for a 22-year-old young man from Saudi Arabia, that he would learn to know God in a personal way during this year.
