Missionaries of the Week

Harghita Christian Camp
in Romania

Christian Camp, Romania

The team that went to Romania in June spent several days at this beautiful camp for children in the Hungarian-speaking part of Romania.  Stephen and Martha Steiner, members of FBCLA, have supported and helped raise this camp for several years.  Stephen has shared that when the kids come to camp and respond to the Gospel message, they are instrumental in sharing with their parents and encouraging church attendance. The Romania team was able to visit several of the village churches, some in a building project. We visited one church that had an average attendance of only 20, but were building a chapel that would hold 80.  Clearly, they have faith that the church will grow.  The camp director, Rev. Gyula Borzasi, is a very capable, very busy man overseeing all aspects of the running of the camp.  His wife, Marta, runs the kitchen for the 100+ campers they have each week.  For more information, go to their web site, which was created by one of their sons:  www.hargitacamp.ro/en/index.shtml. FBCLA has involvement in three areas in Romania (see map.)

7 Sunday  ~  Missionaries of the Week: The Jesus Film Project (CCC). Pray for Iris Ministries, a Campus Crusade partner, which has been showing The Jesus Film in Mozambique in southeast Africa. The response has been powerful, with hundreds of churches being planted.

8 Monday  ~ Our Ministry Team in Southwest Asia. Pray for those who have responded by e-mail and have received New Testaments, that they will now respond to an offer for a free film on DVD that traces the main message of the Bible from Genesis to Revelation.

9 Tuesday  ~ Dian Willbur, India (Retired). Please pray for Dian, who grew up in our church and served as a nurse in India as well as supervising a girls' home. She is here in the States at present for medical treatment.

10 Wednesday  ~ Persecuted Christians. Pray for Christians facing intense persecution in Nigeria, Sudan, Indonesia, North Korea, Pakistan, Vietnam and China.

11 Thursday  ~ Trans World Radio. Pray for Trans World’s reading of the Scriptures over the air to non-readers who number about two billion in the world.

12 Friday  ~ Ralph and Judy Kee, Boston (Missions Door). Pray for the Kees as they oversee and train church planters in Boston. In the last 35 years, they have planted 142 churches, of which only 32 are English-speaking.
