Missionaries of the Week

Marty and Denise Shaw

shaw

Marty spent much of his childhood living in Japan with missionary parents.  After marriage, Marty and Denise were appointed by the Conservative Baptist International mission board to serve in Japan. During their first term after language study, they ministered at a Bible camp and also worked with a team of church planters.  A few years ago, Marty accepted a new challenge in becoming the first International Coordinator helping and encouraging church associations worldwide to become missions sending agencies, sending out missionaries to least evangelized countries.  More recently, he has been appointed Asia Ministries Director and has moved to Singapore, a central location for reaching Asian nations.

Denise has had a unique ministry teaching a weekly quilting class to church members who bring friends who are non-believers.  Each lady makes a square each week that represents a story or a theme from the Bible as they study through the Scriptures.

Marty and Denise have a college-age son, Aaron, who is a senior at LeTourneau in Longview, Texas.  Their daughter, Alison, has graduated from Columbia International University in South Carolina, is living in Littleton, CO, with Denise’s sister and is looking for a job in her Emergency Medical Technician field.

Birthday – Ivy Otto, Ukiah
MK Birthday – Deinlee Guillomettre, Haiti (age 9)

15 Monday  ~ Jews for Jesus. Please pray for The Liberated Wailing Wall, which is a mobile evangelistic team that uses Jewish gospel music, drama and tract distribution to reach people in North America and overseas. Members sign up for 18-month tours, during which they live on a bus and travel around the country.
Birthday – Suzanne Robertson, Jordan

16 Tuesday  ~  George and Esther Manoukian, local (CEF). Praise God for the 85 young teachers from 21 regions in Armenia who received Child Evangelism training earlier this year from George and Esther Manoukian. It was a blessed time and the blessings will overflow to the children of Armenia as they hear the Gospel and give their hearts to Christ.

17 Wednesday  ~  Ken and Bola Taylor, Japan (World Venture). Pray for the Gospel workshops and concerts which are going on this Christmas season.  Ken and Bola focus on developing relationships and building communities as they partner with churches at these events.
MK Birthday – Victoria Taylor (age 10)

18 Thursday  ~  230 million Bengali-speakers in India, Bangladesh and Nepal hear the Bandana Christian radio programs. Pray for those who receive Jesus, that their faith will grow and that they will share their hope with family and friends.

19 Friday  ~  Radha and Samen Manickam, (Missions Door) Cambodia/Seattle.  Pray for Radha as he travels this weekend to Los Altos to be with us in AFC classes on Sunday.  If you would like to hear an update on the ministry in Cambodia, you are welcome to visit the Harvester Class at 8:15 AM or the Mariners Class at 11:00 AM.

20 Saturday  ~ Cesar and Patty Buitrago, (CityTeam). Pray for the home gatherings that CityTeam develops for fellowship and witness in neighborhoods.  They believe that these smaller group meetings reach a greater number of people than planting a few larger churches.
