Missionaries of the Week Don and Cynthia Storrs
Don and Cynthia have been career missionaries with Greater Europe Missions for over 25 years. They started as church planters in French-speaking Belgium, but had to leave a few years ago because of new income tax laws. They settled in Kandern, Germany, and began learning a new language – German. For the past ten years, they both served at Black Forest Academy, a school for missionary children. Cynthia was one of the high school language arts teachers, and we hear from some of our missionary kids who have been in her classes that she is an exceptional teacher. Don previously served in administration as Assistant to the Principal and also filled other positions as needed. In July of 2007, Don took up a new position with GEM at their International Headquarters in Colorado in the recruitment department. Cynthia continues counseling missionaries about transition, cultural and education issues for their families as well as teaching high school English. New Address: 5771 Butterfield Drive, Colorado Springs, CO 80923 |
28 Sunday ~ Missionaries of the Week: Don and Cynthia Storrs, Colorado (GEM). Pray for Don as he takes up a new role in the Greater Europe Mission Resource Mobilization Group where he will serve primarily as West Coast representative. Cynthia has already begun teaching 11th Grade English and AP English for seniors at The Classical Academy in Colorado Springs. Birthday – Cecil Wroten, Newark 29 Monday ~ Last year in Orissa, India, a team from Partners International held three storying seminars. 128 men and women learned to use their native language to tell Bible stories. Pray for a great harvest in Orissa. 30 Tuesday ~ Josh and Cecil Wroten, Newark (CBA/NC). About a year ago, we prayed for Josh and Cecil’s newborn son, who was born with a serious heart condition. Now we can praise God and rejoice with the Wrotens that little Ethan is out of danger. The hole in his heart has closed and the valve is growing properly and working at 90%. Birthday – Josh Wroten 31 Wednesday ~ Rich and Sue Lackey, (AWM). Rich asks us to stand in prayer as more and more contacts and converts are coming from the Muslim world. Pray for more trained leaders to disciple these converts. 1 Thursday ~ Marty and Denise Shaw; Singapore, Director Asia (WorldVenture). Praise that Marty and Denise found an apartment and were able to move out of their previous one before the deadline when there was to be a huge rate increase. The new apartment is on the 17th floor and, yes, there is an elevator. 2 Friday ~ Billy Graham Evangelistic Association. Please pray for Franklin Graham as he leads an evangelistic crusade in Hong Kong this month. The Billy Graham Association has supported ministry in China for the past two decades. Ruth Bell Graham, Billy’s wife of almost 64 years, was born and raised in China and never lost her love and interest in this home of her childhood. Ruth died this past June with her family around her. Pray especially for Billy, now 89 years old, adjusting to life without Ruth. 3 Saturday ~ Paulo and Ireni Mota, Brazil (World Venture). The Motas have found an apartment that is close to their children’s school, but farther away from the Day Center. Pray for the family as they transition back into ministry after a year here in Sacramento. Pray for much-needed financial support as the ministry to street children continues to expand. |
