Missionaries of the Week

Larry and Dana Stucky

stucky

During their seminary days, Larry and Dana dreamed of ministering to unreached peoples and evangelizing Muslims, but the Lord called them instead to one of the world’s ripest harvest fields – northeast Brazil.  After a decade of church planting and leadership training, the Stuckys felt led to dedicate themselves to their earlier burden to reach Muslims.  They now serve in one of the least evangelized nations in the world – Albania, a former Soviet republic in southern Europe.

Albania is very cold and dark, both physically and spiritually.  Several years ago, CBI won a long court battle to reclaim a property in Korcha that they had owned before Communism came to power and took over the property.  A large ministry complex has been constructed on the site including a church, a medical center, a training center and a coffee house.

Larry and Dana are now involved in training Albanian believers to go into areas of Macedonia to evangelize and disciple Albanians who live there.  Future plans may involve ministry to Turkey, the Middle East and Egypt.

4 Sunday  ~  Missionaries of the Week: Larry and Dana Stucky, Southern Europe (WorldVenture).  A couple of years ago, Larry and Dana felt led to consider moving to Turkey in order to reach Muslims, which has always been their dream.  When they shared this vision with local church leaders, they were asked to remain in Albania and train local believers to share their faith cross-culturally. Larry and Dana agreed, started their training program and, last year, led two short-term teams across their border into Macedonia.

5 Monday  ~  Pray for Edith Carpenter, a member of our Ambassador Class here at church and a faithful supporter of missions.  Edith is very ill with cancer and is not able to leave her home. Please ask God’s care and blessing on her during these last days.

6 Tuesday  ~ Terry Gibbs, Thailand (Wycliffe). Terry’s younger daughter, Leilani, was well enough to return to Drexel University for this fall semester. Both she and her older sister, Jamie, and Jamie’s fiance, Chris, plan to fly to Thailand to be with their Dad over Christmas. Birthday – Marvin Cowan, Utah

7 Wednesday   ~  Don and Cynthia Storrs, Denver (GEM). Last month, the ladies of Sue Robertson Missionary Circle enjoyed a special couple of hours with Don at our meeting and over lunch.  Don shared the details of their move from Germany to Colorado Springs, where he will be a part of the recruitment team. Cynthia was not able to accompany Don because she is teaching full-time.  Ladies, come and join us at our next meeting on Tuesday, November 14 at 10:30 A.M. and hear a report from Gerry and Nancy Kraft from Outreach Canada. Birthday – Larry Stucky, Albania

8 Thursday  ~ Kevin and Marcy Carlson, Ecuador (Avant Ministries). Kevin and Marcy are in the States for a time, visiting family and supporters and seeking additional financial support for their ministry.  They were not able to bring Marcy’s mother along as they had hoped.  Pray for those who will be caring for her in Ecuador.

9 Friday  ~ Gerry and Nancy Kraft, Executive Director (Outreach Canada). We are honored to have Gerry and Nancy with us this weekend, speaking in Adult Fellowship Classes and at Missionary Circle on Tuesday. Pray for the ministry of Outreach Canada worldwide.

10 Saturday  ~  Steve and Laura Reed, Director Short-term Ministries (Missions Door). Please pray for Steve as Partnership Ministries expands its reach to new countries – India, Haiti and the Dominican Republic.  The mission has also asked him to help their inner-city ministries in developing short-term teams.  He is currently working with pastors in Brooklyn.           Birthday – Steve Reed, Sacramento
