Missionaries of the Week

Gerry and Nancy Kraft

kraft

Gerry was on staff here at FBCLA for fourteen and a half years beginning back in the 1960’s.  He served as our youth minister and then as minister of education.  He was our first full-time pastor in that area and led us effectively as the church was growing rapidly.  Gerry has served with Outreach Canada for the past 21 years and is now the Executive Director.  Nancy serves alongside him in Human Resource Development.  Gerry has a unique grasp of the needs of the churches and pastors across Canada.  He continues to lead national strategies in church renewal, growth and church planting.  He has thirty-five full-time staff working with him at present.

The OC parent organization, OCInternational, has asked Gerry to oversee ministry in the U.S., using some of the same principles that have been developed in Canada.  He is making inroads here in the States in church renewal and growth.

Gerry and Nancy will be visiting with us this weekend, November 11. You can hear an update on their ministry in the Joint Heirs class at about 10:00 AM or in Alpha Kara at about 11:20 AM.  They will also be our speakers at Sue Robertson Missionary Prayer Circle on Tuesday morning, November 13, at the home of Marian Starkey: 736 Filip Road; Los Altos, CA 94024 - phone: (650) 964-6584

11 Sunday  ~  Missionaries of the Week: Ken and Bola Taylor, Japan (WorldVenture). Praise God that the Taylors are now hearing steady reports that the Japanese choir members who have been singing about Jesus for years are coming to believe in Him.  Approximately 80% of the 500 choir members now confess Christ as their Savior.                                          MK Birthday – Samuel Finley, Paris (age 7)

12 Monday  ~   Please pray for Janet Brown, Short-term Missions Coordinator for Japan.  Janet is visiting friends and churches in the U.S., seeking to raise the additional financial support that she needs so that she can return to her very busy, full ministry with short-termers and missionaries. She has only four weeks before she needs to be back in Japan to meet and escort another group coming from the States.  Pray that her current need, $400.00/month, will be pledged speedily so that she will be able to return in time to meet the group.

13 Tuesday  ~ Brad and Christy Cole, longtime members at FBCLA, have served in various ministries here at our church and have always been supportive of our missions program.  Pray for Brad as he begins a term as Chairman of the Missions Committee.
Birthday – Eriko Houlette, Japan

14 Wednesday  ~  Sue Robertson Missionary Prayer Circle. Please pray for the 20-25 women who meet each month to learn about and pray for our missionaries. We have a fall project of making flannel baby blankets for mothers of new babies in Iraq. Call Effie at (408) 736-6934 if you would like to help.

15 Thursday  ~  Aaron and Nancy Palmatier, (Missions Door). Aaron has become the director of development and mid-term missions for Missions Door and will work closely with his good friend, Steve Reed. They will develop two programs, one for those who want to serve in a ministry mid-term (for two months to two years) and the other will be an economic development program requested by church leadership in Nicaragua and Cambodia.  Birthday – John Houlette, Japan

16 Friday  ~  Gloria Carlson, local (Child Evangelism Fellowship). Pray for Gloria, who has a very full schedule training CEF workers and teaching Good News Clubs.  In her spare time, if she has any, she works diligently on the translation of CEF material from English to Spanish.

17 Saturday  ~  Bob and Suzanne Robertson, Jordan (WV). Please pray for Christian believers in Gaza, Lebanon, and Iraq, who are often caught in the crossfire of opposing groups.  There are believers who are gallantly trying to live and minister in love, but many have been  traumatized and are very, very weary.
